It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.
― Henry David Thoreau
Hi! My name is Leon Schoenfeld, and I’m the founder of We Made Art Once. I’ve always been fascinated with technology and how it changes and interacts with our society and the world at large. Personally, I think AI is going to be a big part of the future but what that future will be like is up to us. I want to take an active and positive role in how these technologies will be applied, and I want We Made Art Once to be a step in the right direction.
Designed through AI
Every design starts out with an idea. Thanks to the help of an amazing AI program called Midjourney, I can turn those ideas into real things, like shirts!
Some designs are published just as they are and some receive a personal makeover. I edit the designs myself and try to make them as close to what I envision when I first input them into the program.
My ultimate goal is to give back to the artist community. I have a lot of fun creating these AI designs and being creative with these tools. I didn’t personally create these artworks by hand, the AI did all the heavy lifting; that’s why I want We Made Art Once to become successful enough in the future to give back a large portion of its profits to charities, scholarships, and other philanthropic endeavors.
Thank you for supporting We Made Art Once.
Made to order
Every shirt is made especially for you as soon as you place an order, which is why it takes us a bit longer to deliver it to you.
Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction, storage costs, and waste! So thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
What are the shirts made out of?
100% combed and ring-spun cotton! The blank shirts are sourced from Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, or the US, depending on availability.
Can you make a custom design for me?
I normally don’t make single designs for a customer, but if you are planning on buying multiple shirts, about 20 or more, send me a message on my contact page.
Are you doing anything to be more sustainable/eco-friendly?
I’m working with my production partners to be as sustainable as possible. You can download this PDF guide to find out more about how my products are made.
What type of ink do you use?
We Made Art Once uses Kornit Water-based and NeoPigment inks that are Oeko-Tex™ certified, which means they are safe to print on children’s clothing and reduce environmental waste. These inks provide a high washing colorfast AATCC rating of 4.
What suppliers are you working with?
Bella + Canvas is known for its premium quality tees that come in a wide variety of sizes and colors. The brand is revolutionizing the concept of fast fashion by introducing eco-friendly practices in its apparel production. You can download their certifications here!
Will you only be selling shirts?
Sweaters and long-sleeved shirts are coming soon! In the future, you can expect art prints, mugs, phone cases, mousepads, and more.
I really like this specific design. Can I download it?
Sure! If you want it for private use, I’d love to share it! Send me a message in my contact form, and I’ll send you the highest quality file I have. I’d extra appreciate it if you attribute We Made Art Once!
There’s a problem with my order, what do I do?
I’m sorry to hear that! Please send me a message on my contact page with your order number and what went wrong and I will do my best to make sure you are happy with your order! Check out my return policy here.
Why does my shirt smell like vinegar?
When unpacking a new shirt or hoodie with a direct-to-garment (DTG) print, you might notice a vinegar-like smell or an off-white residue. Don’t worry, that’s not unusual – it’s from a fixation agent applied during the printing process and it’s not permanent.
A fixation agent (sometimes known as pre-treatment) is used for all DTG prints across the industry. It helps the ink bond with the fabric, and without it, the ink would flake off the garment.
The solution is simply to wash the garment! Neither the residue nor the smell is permanent and both should go away after one wash.
